Community Solar

What is a Community Solar Project?

A community solar project, garden or farm is a solar power installation that accepts funding capital from or revenue from the sale of the production power.  It provides output credit and tax benefits to multiple subscribers, including individual homeowners, businesses, nonprofits, and other investors.

Participants typically provide funding in or subscribe to a certain kW capacity or kWh generation of remote, electrical production. The project’s power production output is credited to the investors or subscribers in proportion to their investment amount.  It will include adjustments to reflect ongoing changes in electricity rates and other factors.

Community Solar provides direct access to the renewable energy to customers or subscribers who are unable or unwilling to install solar photovoltaic systems for themselves.
